On February 8, a year will pass since the collapse of a construction site in the Caballito neighborhood, resulting in two fatalities and forcing residents to abandon their homes. Among those affected are Néida and Ramón Acuña, two siblings who lost their lives in the building's collapse.
Ingrid Vadalá, one of the victims, shared her experience and frustration about being unable to return to her home since the tragic incident. In dialogue with the Argentine News Agency, she recalled how she was trapped with her children on the day of the collapse, being rescued by firefighters. Ingrid mentioned that since then, the construction company MAB INVERSIONES SRL has been paying the rents of the affected residents following an agreement established when Jorge Macri's administration acted as an intermediary.
However, the situation has become exhausting for Ingrid and other homeowners, as lease renewals occur every six months with price increases from the company, which has caused discontent among those affected. Ingrid lamented that they have not received any responses from the company regarding the reconstruction of the damages to their homes.
The construction company, now operating under the name EQUIPO 6c and managed by siblings Yanina, Fernando, and Ezequiel Cueto, continues to carry out works in different parts of the city, raising concerns among residents in the area. Furthermore, Ingrid reported that the City Government has ceased to mediate in the situation, leaving homeowners without support or concrete solutions.
In light of this situation, Ingrid and other affected individuals plan to mobilize on Saturday, February 8, to demand justice and accountability from the company regarding the reconstruction of their homes. The uncertainty and emotional exhaustion have led these families to seek a prompt solution so they can return to their homes and regain normalcy in their lives.
